What Does AWANA Stand For?
AWANA stands for Approved Workers Are Not Ashamed, taken from 2 Timothy 2:15.
Awana Clubs are an exciting opportunity for our children to benefit spiritually, mentally, physically and emotionally from each weekly meeting. Our Awana clubs offers a positive, loving atmosphere. Through Awana, our children can develop their social skills such as sharing, listening and relating to others. Through achievement and awards, our children will gain a sense of accomplishment that leads to future successes in all areas of life. The heart of Awana is its biblical stand that stresses the preeminence of the Word of God. The great Scripture verses on salvation and Christian growth are the core of all the Awana achievements.

When does it start and when does it end?
Our 2017-2018 AWANA year will begin September 18, 2017 and end with the Awards Ceremony and all clubber party on May 7, 2018. Club begins at 6:00pm and ends at 7:30pm.
Is it a weekly club?
Yes, AWANA Clubs meet weekly throughout the school year. We take our first break December 18, 2017 - January 1, 2018. Awana resumes January 8, 2018. NO CLUB October 16, November 20, Jan 16, and March 26.
What age does my child need to be to join AWANA?
AWANA Clubs is for ages 3* - 6th grade. *Children who will turn 3 before August 1, 2017 are able to register into the Cubbies Class. Our Cubbies class has limited space and parents are required to sign up to help in the class on a rotation basis. Details will be provided prior to the start of club. For kids who are in 7th – 12th grade we have a program that allows the youth to continue in their handbooks and serve in the AWANA program at the same time.
How do I sign up my child(ren)?
You can sign up by completing an online registration form found on the left. After completing the form, please turn it in to the Office at church. Child Registrations begin August 28.
Can I be a Parent Helper at AWANA Club?
ABSOLUTELY! We want and encourage parents to get involved! At GCC AWANA Clubs, our full time team is made up of parents, grandparents and loving individuals who are volunteering their time to make AWANA Clubs possible. Without our full time volunteer team, AWANA Clubs at GGC would not be possible. We ALSO strongly believe in the power of parent involvement. It creates an atmosphere of unity, shows the kids we are all here for them, helps you to understand your child’s growth, and so many more amazing benefits. This is why as a parent or guardian of an AWANA Clubber we encourage you to commit to volunteering as a helper during the AWANA year. Are AWANA nights themed?
Yes they are and it is SO much fun! We have themes throughout the club year. Some themes are just for fun such as our Crazy Hair/Hat night, others are focused on helping others.
How do I order my child's book or shirt/vest?
On the Child Registration form on the left, there will be an option to order needed supplies. If additional items are needed during the club year, see someone in administration on a club night. Payments are taken at the time of order. Please allow 2-3 weeks for processing. We don’t keep uniforms, book bags or music CD’s in stock. In addition, shipping to Hawaii is very expensive so we combine orders together to save on shipping costs. Supplies will be available for pickup at the check-in tables when they arrive.
