The Vision

Pointing people to Jesus, our greatest Treasure; God's Word pulled through the context of community

The Mission

Fulfilling The Great Commission through the power of The Great Commandment

"...disciples all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you."  Matthew 28:19-20

“Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
Matthew 22:36-40

The Strategy

Our Discipleship Strategy is G6: Gather, Grow, Give, and Go for the Glory of God!

Gather- In the New Testament book of Hebrews we read, “We should not stop gathering together with other believers, as some of you are doing. Instead, we must continue to encourage each other even more as we see the day of the Lord coming.”  Therefore, we uphold the value and power of gathering together to worship Christ Jesus for the building up of the local church. This happens at Grace Kona every day of the week. On Sundays we gather as a local body of faithful followers of Jesus Christ. During the week we gather in small groups for Bible studies, grief recovery, children's and youth ministries, outreach teams, and much more!
In Matthew 12:30, “King Jesus said, Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters.” Gathering with Christ means that we are intentional about the promotion and proclamation of the GOSPEL (Jesus Christ is LORD!) through our testimony of being His devoted followers. If you're interested in finding out more about Grace Kona, come gather with us as we gather with Christ!
Grow- Our primary focus at Grace Kona is to continually strive to be the church that God has created and called us to be. That desire for cooperation, maturation, sanctification, and transformation by the power of the Holy Spirit is the essence of healthy biblical church growth. While the Bible certainly speaks to numerical growth, it is always the byproduct of the spiritual variety. Jesus never worked for the numerical variety. He simply focused on the ministry of the GOSPEL (Jesus Christ is LORD!) and allowed the Holy Spirit to do the ministry of conviction and regeneration.
“...speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into Christ Himself, who is the Head (of the Body). From Him the whole body, fitted and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love through the work of each individual part.”
-Ephesians 4:15-16
Give- You will rarely hear us talking about money at Grace Kona, and you'll never see us passing around the golden “plate” of shame. That's because the biblical principle of giving has to do with our hearts and not with our wallets, pocketbooks, or financial assets. As King Jesus said in John 15:13, “The greatest love you can show is to give your life for your friends.” The Lord has no interest in fleecing you financially and neither do we.  As the Apostle Paul wrote in 2 Corinthians 9:6-7, “The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”
When King Jesus has your heart, questions like, “How little can I get away with?” or “Before or after taxes?” never come up.
Go- You will rarely hear us talking about money at Grace Kona, and you'll never see us passing around the golden “plate” of shame. That's because the biblical principle of giving has to do with our hearts and not our wallets, pocketbooks, or financial assets. As King Jesus said in John 15:13, “The greatest love you can show is to give your life for your friends.”

Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”
When King Jesus has our heart, questions like, “How little can I get away with?” or “Before or after taxes?” never enter the conversation.
Glory to God- The Bible reveals that everything that does not come from faith is sin (Rom 14:23). The best human efforts and intentions are incapable of producing anything good, holy, or righteous. All of our good deeds amounts to nothing but filthy rags (Isa 64:6). King Jesus said in John 15:5, “For apart from Me you can do nothing.” Grace Kona doesn't exist for our reputation, legacy, or glory. We exist exclusively for the glory of God Almighty. The day is coming when suffering, striving, evangelism, missions, outreach, and ministry will end. The Bible reveals that what the Father seeks those who will worship Him in spirit and truth (John 4:23). What endures is our thanksgiving and adoration of Christ as perpetual worship! Revelation 5:12 states, In a loud voice they were saying: “Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and riches and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and blessing!”

The Church

The Church is not a weekend activity, a geographic location, or a physical structure. Instead, the Bible reveals The Church as the collective born-again, redeemed, and missional Body & Bride of Christ Jesus. At Grace Kona we understand that "church" isn't a religious activity or a spectator sport. As the Apostle Paul wrote in Ephesians 4:11-16, "...it was He (King Jesus) who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors-teachers, to equip the saints for work of ministry and to build up the body of Christ, until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God, as we mature to the full measure of the stature of Christ. Then we will no longer be infants, tossed about by the waves and carried around by every wind of teaching and by the clever cunning of men in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into Christ Himself, who is the head. From Him the whole body, fitted and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love through the work of each individual part."

God's design and desire isn't for us to "go" to church, but to "be" The Church. His Body of Grace & Truth in a lost and broken world. Our prayer is that you'll experience 100% of both as you worship King Jesus with us.

Mahalo!
